Here’s What to Do Before Shocking Your Swimming Pool

Shocking your swimming pool is a sign that you are nearing the end process of cleaning. This is in fact the main event. But before that, there are things that you need to do first – cleaning. But if you don’t know how to clean a green swimming pool, then you have come to the right place. Clean your pool in less than a week with these tips.

Vacuum to Waste

Provided that you have already removed the algae and debris, the next step is to vacuum it to Waste. You need to set the valve filter to Waste, then start the vacuum process. Make sure to remove as many algae and sediment from the bottom of the pool.

Brush Walls and Floor

For this step, it is best to use algae brush instead of a regular pool brush. Remember that algae can be tough but you have to make sure that you remove as much of it as you can during this process. The heavy-duty brush will have the work done more effectively than ones with soft nylon bristles.

Test Water for pH and Alkalinity

Before shocking the pool, it is vital that you check the water for its pH levels and alkalinity. There are test strips or liquid test kits that you can purchase to do this. You have to take note of the results because you will need them later. This is also the time to take note of the chlorine or sanitizer levels.

Once all of these steps are done, then you can proceed to the main event – shocking the swimming pool. This is the process where the remaining algae are killed. You can do this on your own if you know how to do it right. If not and you are afraid to deal with high levels of chlorine, then it is best to call an expert to have the most difficult processes done for you.
